Interesting. I was Team Cap in Civil War. I hear that the comics did it differently and gave more understanding to both sides.

One of the things I've always liked about Marvel was their "slightly subversive" plot threads in various story lines. In the Spider-Man titles during the 60s-the 80s, quite a bit of Peter's Spidey chatter (that constant stream of "squee" we saw so well done when he was fighting both Buck and the Falcon during Civil War?) was, among other things, anti drug and (at least I thought so), they managed to send that message out without going all Reefer Madness or be overly preachy.
There is -- usually -- a bit more under the surface with Marvel stuff than just a "bunch of costumed freaks running around" mindless entertainment.

It helps that the comics have months to explore a subject. Movies have about two hours, give or take. I think a lot of people were Team Iron Man because the nuances couldn't be adequately presented.
