That's the sad thing about the fragmented state of movie Marvel. By rights, they should all have been together from the beginning. I'm of the opinion now, though, that Spidey has been spared some weird retcon where he's female or black or both just to satisfy some sort of check-box mentality that seems to be taking over Hollywood, not to enhance story or character or world.

Well, if they were keeping to the MCU timeline, Fury could not have mentioned (however vaguely) Spider-Man since the first Ironman took place in 2008. Parker was only (I think) about six in the timeline at that point. His first appearance (also pre-spider bite) wasn't until 2010 with him in the second Ironman (the li'l kid with the Ironman mask and hand repulsors who stood up to one of the Whiplash drones at the Stark Expo. Six or so years later, Holland's Spider-Man gains his powers and is recruited by Stark for Civil War (there is a line, IIRC, where Peter mentions that he's only had his powers for six months).

At that time, the whole timeline thing wasn't a thing. It would be people looking back on it that made it a big deal.
