Okay, since I didn't follow those comics (as I've mentioned, I stopped reading comics when they became ridiculously expensive and covered in clear sleeves back in the early 1980s, and hadn't read much between then and 1973) it's informative to see what was going on with BP. The only thing I really want to know is, how is "Claw" spelled? In one article it's 'Klau' (which is the way it's spelled in the movies but which makes me want to pronounce it as 'Klaus' without the 's') and Klaw, pronounced 'claw', which is how this article spells it.

This is what happens when a Mundane writes an article and a Mundane edits it (if they still use them). It is spelled Klau and pronounced "claw". Because, ya' know...Marvel and pun

Are you sure it's not homage to Inspector Gadget?

More than likely, any connection or homage would be from the cartoon to the character as Klau (or also spelled Klaw) first appeared in 1967 in the Fantastic Four animated (I'm presuming) Saturday morning program. At least according to Wikipedia. Inspector Gadget was on TV from 1983-85 according to IMDB. But, most of the IG homages were aimed at shows like The Man From U.N.C.L.E., I Spy, Get Smart! and the James Bond franchise

I definitely got Get Smart vibes, with, you know, Don Adams doing the voice and all.
