Not all that familiar with the EU. I'd suggest that whichever it is, if KK is involved it'll be screwed up, otherwise, see the period of the show and decide from that.

Last I heard, KK was dumped with the rest of the garbage before they went into lightspeed let go in the recent past.
I'm not that familiar with the current Disney EU myself. More of a "Legends" fan.

No, she wasn't let go, though a lot of people wished she would be. She's not too involved with The Mandalorian and it's a good Star Wars vehicle where the sequel trilogy was a meh bit of work.
