When in the right hands, the MCU components tie in nicely with each other.

This was one of the things that i loved about the comics. At the very least, you could see a character from another title just in the background of a panel in a crowd scene and there were guest appearances, story-line cross overs (Transformers/GI Joe). Spider-Man has met the Autobots. He's had missions with Wolverine. Heck, in Spider-Man Ultimate, back when they first began those titles (and were also doing them as eComics... download one issue and you're modem/phone line is tied up for four hours) Wolverine/Logan was the father-figure/mentor. Quite a few members of the X-Men have been Avengers at one time or another.

So far, I think the MCU has done a decent job of intertwining things. Not too sure about the upcoming phase, but we'll see.
