If they are suggesting Marvel box office fatigue then I wouldn't be surprised. Since Marvel products have been hitting movie theater screens with some regularity since 2000 with Singer's X-Men. Or it could be that the merc with the mouth isn't to everyone's taste. Big box office with the first one probably included a large chunk of Marvel folks who don't know Deadpool and found the water too hot for a second swim so soon.

I don't go to theaters anymore. I like to be able to control the sound. I'll be seeing Deadpool 2, Infinity Wars and Black Panther at home. I'm looking forward to all of them. I won't be watching Book Club despite that it's aimed specifically at my demographic - not into chick-flicks. The thing about Deadpool 1&2 is that they're satires. They don't go deep, they just give the audience something to enjoy. I hear Black Panther was a nicely nuanced film that had a strong story and well-paced action. That they would spend that time in developing the story as well as trying to shove social justice topics under our noses shows that a) it can be done well (so why isn't it usually?) and b) that a good story trumps just about everything else.
