Could also be subtitled "How we made the Kessel Run in less than 12 par secs"
This one was a fun movie. Actually, aside from the fact that I felt the absence of John Williams' scoring talents and the Wilhelm scream, this chapter fits nicely into the original series. Almost as if it had been directed by Lucus himself. The movie is fun, in my opinion, because -- unlike Rogue One it doesn't seem to be trying too hard (face it some of the RO Easter eggs were so blatantly obvious they were painful).
As with Rogue One, they have done away with the famous Star Wars opening info crawl, but like a properly done chapter of the saga, they drop you pretty much right into the thick of things as we see the hands of someone (yeah, favorite scoundrel in hot water -- per usual LOL) hot-wiring a speeder to escape.
Never once did Han use the phrase "Its not my fault!" (maybe next time?) Felt they slightly over-used the phrase "I know" (only saw the movie once, no I did not keep count -- maybe drinking game when it hits the shelves?)
Yes, we see how Han and Lando meet. We also see how Han and Chewie meet. And, I think we may have even met Chewie's father Lumpy. If only briefly.
Yes, I would recommend this to old and new fans.
And Disney need to stop the crying because this movie didn't make almost a billion dollars on its first week.

As usual, I'll see it when it comes out on DVD/Blueray. Hasn't stopped me from watching reviews.
I think the consensus is that the movie could have made more if there hadn't been a boycott. These folks who stayed away from the theaters in tiny droves will likely see it the same time I do, but not for the same reasons. Heck, they may even go later while it's still in theaters (if it's still in theaters) because the only reason to boycott is to send a message. Message sent, now will it be interpreted correctly?
Most reviews tag this as a fairly good movie. Some have problems with the naming of the central figure (pointless). Some have problems with the android (L3-37? LEET?) being too PC and a sex fiend. Some were glad they didn't have stupid quips spoiling the more serious moments (SW:TLJ seemed to have ruined the serious moments with ill-placed quips in their opinion). Some liked the main actor, some didn't; most liked the Billy Dee replacement. They were also divided on the 'love interest' (they were kids, does puppy love count as an actual romance? / heartfelt growing-up saga of boy loses girl in the end / girl was already lost and lost years ago but main character didn't take off the rose-tinted spectacles and it broke viewers' hearts).

I won't be able to watch that scene in TESB where Threepio remarks "I don't know where your ship learned to communicate... it has a very peculiar dialect" with a completely straight face again. Because, now I know the answer. LOL
