Hubby's family (at least on his momma's side) were very musically talented. Most of them could play more than one instrument. That gene seems to have skipped hubby but Spawnette played tenor sax in junior high and high school and got her letter jacket in band and (I think) track. Eldest Spawn was in the band, at least for junior high. Grandspawn was also in band and I think he got his letter jacket as well. My momma's family was also musically talented (or, at least momma was). Gene skipped me to. I used to could sing, but never actually learned an instrument.

I get so far on an instrument then leave it. Seems I can't progress further than basic on anything. I've played guitar for decades, and at one point was playing every day, but aside from the fingering I learned in class, I couldn't get beyond basic strumming. Same with violin, accordion, and piano. I quit clarinet at the end of Kindergarten in favor of violin, but I think that was my mom's influence more than my wanting to quit. I did sing, did solos in church, joined the college choir, but these days I croak like a frog.
