I'm not up on the CPT Marvel lore. Alachia Queen, a YouTube movie reviewer, isn't too thrilled with this trailer.
I don't know what's up with trailers these days. A lot of reviewers will pan the trailers but like the films.
After watching this trailer, I'm worried that they're going to concentrate more on 'girl power' than on a solid story. They tried that with Ghostbusters, which was an all-right fluff movie, and with the Star Wars continuation, which, where ADM Holdo was concerned, didn't make any sense for the plot, and Rose's side-story was just... pointless. They could have done a lot with that character but they opted for a line that ultimately led nowhere. The only hope is that it's a Marvel product. So far, they've had a good track record with skirting the good side of the social justice stuff.

I prefer to just watch the trailers. And this makes it look like a fun film to see. Really liked the younger Nick Fury.
Not sure what lore Marvel Studios is going to use for Danvers as MCU, but comicverse had women in actual combat positions long before IRL US military did (think "Scarlet" from GI JOE). Danvers was USAF and a combat pilot well before the Air Force was allowing women for that role. Comicverse, she has an X-Men connection. Wolverine is one of her friends. They could even sneak him in with a cameo simply by having her leaving a table with "see you later, Jimmy" and have a shot of sleeve that looks like Logan's usual mode of street clothes and hand knock back a whiskey and salute her with the glass. No dialog needed and just credit whomever they used as "whiskey guy in the bar" Pre-Hugh Jackman Wolverine fans (like me) would probably catch it and (at least I know I would) smile for about a week.
And it wouldn't be the first uncredited Marvel did. Way back when they did Electra with Jennifer Garner, there is a point where Electra takes the young girl that the Hand is after and they hide with a friend. He's shorter than she is and she never uses his name. As they're having to leave out an escape tunnel, he picks up a shot gun and tells her "Go. I'll hold em off as long as I can."
That unnamed character was Wolverine, but you'd only know that if you'd read the story arc in the comics.

Oddly, younger Nick Fury reminded me of some old Travolta film. The MCU changes lore without giving offense. I was so stoked to see the Howling Commandos in the CPT America: First Avenger film. I loved that comic when I was a teen. They were actually Nick Fury's Howling Commandos but here they paired them with CPT America and it was no big deal. It's like having an inside secret. (BTW, in the fanfic with no name I stuck in a Howling Commandos 'easter egg' - did you see it?) I'll see the film once it comes out on Amazon or whatever movie app we've got on the TV. If I like it we'll buy it. Still need to see Ant-Man and the Wasp. The husband is resisting, he doesn't like comic book movies (until I insist, then he has a good time but reverts once the post-credit scenes are over.)
ETA a lot: I'm not a big fan of women in combat. I think that's the last resort for a civilization about to be annihilated. It all boils down to who has the longer burden of reproduction, and that's the women. Men get their 'fifteen minutes of fame' (more or less ) and if they die tomorrow it's no big deal to the continuance of the species or culture. Men are expendable much moreso than women and it's always been that way for reason stated. I also believe that, at least until the current decade, men were more likely to try and protect their female comrades to the detriment of the mission. In the military the mission is paramount. Cartoons and movies about female awesome soldiers are more of an allegory, IMO, to equality of opportunity than a script for the future. Once the women of childbearing years are dead or maimed, there goes the species/culture.
